Training for mounted and convoy operations has become a necessity for supporting ongoing operations in-theater. Preparing troops for these types of operations is done on a Ballistics Technology International “Convoy Trainer,” created with SACON® panels and blocks. SACON® is used to re-create village and town settings where troops must deal with of a variety of threats to vehicles, personnel and cargo. As an element of a larger convoy training program, entering a SACON® village hones skills of route planning, tactical response to threats and evasive maneuvers needed to ensure safe travel through hostile environments. |
| |
An example of a convoy training scenario: Convoy trainees drive their vehicles along an extended course and then enter the hamlet where they encounter both enemy threat targets as well as civilian identified targets in and around the SACON® village. Several of the SACON® buildings are designed so trainees can exit their vehicles and practice skills such as: vehicle dismount, building entry and room clearing skills. Realistic details can include but are not limited to: a town square, building courtyards, road blocking/diversion options and a variety of possible ambush points. |

Ballistics Technology International designs convoy training facilities to be rugged enough to capture thousands of rounds from both mounted and dismounted troops in a safe and easy to maintain system. The modular capabilities of the SACON® panel system allow the facilities to grow and adapt to future training weaponry and requirements.
